Waiting for Wyatt

Esperando a alguien.
Esperándome.
Ahora, Wyatt, no esperaba a nadie.
Quería ayudar a Wyatt.

"Drive to the pet store in Stillwater. The rescue site "Red Dirt Claws" had approximately fifteen cages in the front. I took Charlie in my arms. His eyes held a wild glow when I put the puppy in front of the older woman. He looked like a reasonable person in a T-shirt named after the rescue room. His long black hair was held in a youthful ponytail on the back of his head, which showed a line of gray hair in front. He looked like a skunk, which made me want to laugh.
-I need to find a place- I begged. -I was in a bad situation, and I took it out. But I can not keep it.
-I'm sorry, but we can not receive it. The rescue room is full. - His bright blue eyes crawled over the spots of my yellow shirt and returned to Charlie. -I have an idea. I think Wyatt could receive it. Normally it has space. I would try. I doubt I told you no.
- Where's this Wyatt?
- Do you know where Marshal Street is located on the west side of the city?
-Yes.
-It becomes county road 3210. Take that for about 20 kilometers. Turn left into the blue barn. Travel another 8 kilometers. It's a silver door. You can not miss
-Good. Do you have any informational brochure in this kennel?
The corners of his lips curled as if they had a secret. -It's not that kind of place. But you must go there. He will take good care of that little one.
-Good. Thank you. - I did not have much choice. Lifting Charlie from the cement, I held a frightened dog against my chest. His head slipped slightly under my chin. He was getting used to me now. My heart was filled with sadness. I wanted to keep it. He wanted to give the battered dog the home he had never had with the evil Kurt.

My little white car bounced over the bumps in the road, covering the outside with a layer of red dirt. I looked for a blue barn while weeds grew taller in the ditch.
I raised my hand to stroke Charlie on the head. His nose remained stuck to the window, making a wet mark. The dog seemed to love the car rides. I smiled, seeing the first sign of something else besides the fear that came from those terrified eyes.
When I reached the blue barn that was falling apart, I made a turn on the dirt road, sending a cloud of dust behind the car. The silver door came into view with old cow skulls hanging from the fence posts next to it."

"Three hundred and sixty-five days later I went out the door in anticipatory freedom, feeling the sun on my skin. -It's good to see you, son. I looked at my father for a moment before giving him a tired smile. -It's good to see you too. Entering my father's truck, we hit the road to get to my parents' house. He spoke while I listened. The man had visited me every week during the course of my imprisonment. And now our relationship was different. I can not say that everything was perfect, but I respected the man. After he lost his job as chief of police, my family moved to Stillwater. The city was a little bigger than Gibbs, and he was back to being just a police officer. His loss of degree had been another consequence of my actions. Nobody thinks about the after effects. When a stone hits a windshield, it is not the big hole that pulls the glass down. They are the rings that radiate from the initial impact. My actions had affected my entire family, especially my father. He had dragged us all into a hole, as they were forced to walk away while I turned my back on them because of shame and grief. But now it was different. We had repaired some of that damage. My father was no longer a dominant bastard, and I was no longer a fucking idiot. My father parked in his new house. It was the first time I saw the place. Look at the unknown front porch. While I was away, my family had moved out of the only house that Willa and I had known since childhood. Seeing the smallest house, I felt the damn guilt hitting me right in the gut. - Are you coming? Asked his gruff voice. -Yes. I breathed deeply, shaking the past. -Hey, dad - Yes?

-Thank you. -The emotions hurt in my throat. -By not giving up on me. I am, I feel that ... Um ... That I ... My dad hugged me through the console of his truck, cutting my words. He honestly felt that it had cost him as much his life as his career. He held me for a moment.
"I'm sorry for Willa," I whispered. He released me, looking me straight in the eyes as a tear fell down his cheek. -I know."
